Every day is a winding road: Edition: College 1.1

Meant to be read while listening to Cheryl Crow's "Every Day is a Winding Road:"

I hitched a ride home with a guy from my Math class
He says he’s been down this road more than twice
He was high on intellectualism
I’ve never been there but the brochure looks nice
Jump in, let’s go
Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low,
These are the days when anything goes
[Chorus]
Everyday is a winding road
I get a little bit closer
Everyday is new exam
I get a little bit closer to feeling fine
He’s got a girlfriend he calls Kitty
But she’s actually allergic to cats
I’m just wondering why I feel so all alone
Why I’m a stranger in my own life
Jump in, let's go
Lay back, enjoy the show
Everybody gets high, everybody gets low
These are the days when anything goes
[Chorus]
I’ve been swimming in a sea of anarchy
I’ve been living on Ramen and Lucky Charms
I've been wondering if all the things I've seen
Were ever real, were ever really happening
[Chorus]

Stuff

These are some pictures that mom took on her and dad's trip to Oregon, and I played with them because I thought they looked cool.

This is just a road. I like pictures of the road. It reminds me of tour.

This is the car they rented(?) and the white plane is the one they flew home in...

...and this is my version of the picture. I'm not sure why, I just really like the harsh lighting and stuff.

This is a freaking sweet mug that I saw. I thought of all my moms and aunts who breastfeed their babies. Er... except I only have one mom. But you get the picture.

And this is where I work. I was just thinking that no one knows what my work looks like. So here you go.

{TitleOfPost}

Heehee...

*ahem* Anyway, this is what I had for breakfast:

These are some pictures that I stole from Aunt Jess' facebook because I thought they looked sweet.

This on reminded me of New Moon.

And these two are just plain awesome!

Goodnight, Moon...

I'm not sure why, but this one floating moon marshmallow from my Lucky Charms made me think of the Goodnight Moon book...

What we ate on Saturday while chillin' in our...

...blanket fort!

And this is the view out the door of the fort. Exciting, I know.

And this is my version of that thing that Lila's got on her blog.

Description du Jour

It's taken me a while to get back in the groove of my description thing, but I had a really good one hit me today. The only little problem with doing stuff like this is the fact that when I see the thing I'm going to describe, I can't actually get the description down on paper. It's weird. Anyway, here we go:

Wednesday, October 22:
The red light bathed everything in a surreal glow, and we watched, as though through a window, a separate world from our own, a world we are not normally meant to see.

Work

I'm always taking pictures of my dinner. I thought this made a nice contrast to the rest of them.

Look who came to visit! I'm not sure where he came from, but he sure made work interesting!

Monday, Monday

I spent Monday at home (yay!) with mi familia. It was fun. I did a lot of stuff, including give myself a bedroom again! Well, half of one. Or rather, a third of a bedroom.

This is the little bit of space that is mine in the bedroom. I also have some shelves in the closet, but they're empty, as all my clothes are here at collegio.

Today is James' birthday, and yesterday we celebrated. It was fun. I made the cake:

Here is James blowing out the candles:

I was trying to take a picture of mom's 3 second wrapping job, but Joey decided it would be his close-up instead. Ha ha.

Description du Jour

So I've decided that since Lila's got her "color of the week" I'm going to do something of my own. And I'm going to call it "description of the day." So here we go:

Friday, October 17
The two divas, one fair, one dark, sat side by side, watching the soloist with very subtle, slightly mocking smiles.

I'm a day behind, though, so here's Saturdays:

Saturday, October 18
The six girls, friends for years, chatted easily, catching up after five months apart.

This is fun, and it will, as Lila says, "Keep my artistic juices flowing." Ha ha.

Wacky Wednesday

And now I'd like to tell you the story of Amber, and her adventures in the Great Wide Open...

My Wednesday lunch. I think the cafeteria food may be going downhill. Or they just had a bad week.

This is Geneil and Katelin hemming Geneil's Opus dress (which is a not-so-fun dress, I might add). No, Geneil is not really this tall, she was standing on the table.

Katelin, and Erin my roomie, on the couch.

Katelin showing off her insane flexibility, as Erin looks on.

Katelin has this tiny sewing machine, it is SO cool!!

At 11:00 pm, we ordered pizza.

And it was good.

Today

My friend Katelin said that I should make a photo album of all the pictures I take this year. I'm thinking I might, because it'd be amusing. Pictures of all my friends, baby Julia, random things I see, and my food. We'll see.

My dinner, aka: the first hamburger I've eaten since being down here.  Hopefully there won't be too many more.

My dessert. I do love the mugs in the cafeteria, they remind me of Wallace and Gromit.

The precious few that is my laundry fund.  For tomorrow, anyway.  I suppose I'll have to find 250¢ more in two weeks to do another load.  We'll see.

The First Signs of Winter

I laugh at Mirielle's post of the same name. "Winter?" You don't know the meaning of the word!

I do believe this is sometime around one in the afternoon.  Perhaps.

This is the view from the "living room" window at about four.

This is the lawn by the quad at approximately 5:07 pm.

And this is later that night.

But almost all the snow is gone now, thank goodness, and it's going to be back up to the 70's later this week.

Sad day...

This is what became of my sweet awesome newspaper tree... Someone thought it funny to storm through our hall like a hurricane and take down our decorations. I almost cried.

Halloween Decorating

So, our floor activity today was to decorate for Halloween. It was freaking sweet! Here's some pictures:

Everyone prepping for the big decorating par-tay.

The newspaper tree that I was unceremoniously thrust into making. But I enjoyed it. Mirielle, I thought of you as I was letting my artistic juices flow.

The newspaper made my hands SO nasty gross.

I finally pulled my pirate flag out of the closet and put it on my door. Huzzah!

It's Here!

Watch it. Now!

CLICKY

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! Especially the beginning where the music sounds like Lord of the Rings. *die*

Look what I made!

So, as you probably know, I'm being Jack Sparrow for Halloween. I've just replicated the beads that he wears in his hair. Yay me! What do you think?

Real beads:

My beads:

Breakfast

Look, mom!  Cinnamon Toast Crunch!

Look, Mirielle!  Eggs!!  Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

For mom, and Julia

Julia's famous! She even has her own magazine!!

Look what I made!

I just discovered you can do this on BigHugeLabs. It is so cool. I was thinking about making one for myself, but this is cooler.

I just remembered...

Apparently I was going to blog about some stuff last week, random adventures I had, so here we go:

A Jeff Sanford truck.  Made me happy.

The chair at the bank looks like Braille.  It was weird.

The poor Swedish Fish on the sidewalk says, "Hi, Lila!"

I had this chocolate mousse pie for dessert. It was good.

I found this picture in a magazine.  Apparently Vanessa Hudgens has an iPhone.  Except she is not cool enough to have an iPhone.  Gah.
